Carttronics
Announces Several New Clients
Wal-Mart, SUPERVALU'S
Cub and Save-A-Lot, Giant Foods among new users of cart loss prevention
solution
Chicago -- May 6, 2001 --
Carttronics L.L.C., the worldwide leader in shopping cart loss
prevention systems, announced at the Food Marketing Institute's
Annual Convention here today that nine additional retailers have
recently acquired the company's CAPSŪ technology. The list of new
clients includes mass merchandisers Wal-Mart and Ames, and grocery
retailers Save-A-Lot, Jewel, Giant Foods (Landover, MD), Cub Foods,
Gelson's, Bruno's and Bi-Lo. Carttronics leads the industry with
more than 550 successful sites installed throughout the world.
"This flurry of customer activity shows
that retailers are committed to addressing their shopping cart control
challenges and are ready to implement new systems designed specifically
to protect their assets, reduce operating costs and significantly
improve customer relations by ensuring that customers have carts
to use while shopping," said Art Salyer, President & CEO.
"Our customers are increasingly sensitive
to the local neighborhood and regulatory aspects of shopping carts.
The CAPS system keeps the carts on the retailer's property and not
in the community." Salyer continued, "Clearly, the market is hungry
for a solution to the shopping cart loss and damage problem. The
Carttronics CAPS system has proven itself as the most cost effective,
long-term solution to cart loss. Our system, with its rugged reliability,
provides the lowest total cost of ownership of any system on the
market today. And, CAPS is the only system that allows for cost
effective field maintenance vs. out right replacement."
Each of the new clients is installing
CAPS, which starts with a perimeter antenna wire buried in a narrow
slot around the retail site and an electronic locking caster mounted
on each cart. Whenever someone attempts to remove a cart from the
site, the caster locks to disable the cart. The cart remains disabled
until it is reset using the Carttronics hand-held reset controller.
