Carttronics
Introduces New Shopping Cart Loss
Prevention Solution
Chicago -- May 6, 2001 --
Carttronics L.L.C., the worldwide leader in shopping cart loss
prevention systems, has launched a new version of its best selling
CAPSŪ shopping cart loss prevention system at the Food Marketing
Institute's Annual Convention here today. CAPSŪ 2000EX integrates
a number of new design features to improve durability, weather/water
resistance, battery life and overall system reliability. In addition,
to highlight the improved reliability of CAPS 2000EX, Carttronics
is now including a 2-year manufacturer warranty, including quarterly
preventative maintenance visits.
"This warranty is the most extensive
in the industry and twice that of the competition," said Art Salyer,
President & CEO. "We have a strong commitment to our customers to
provide a cost effective solution with predictable total cost of
ownership. With our optional extended warranty program for maintenance
beyond the warranty period, the retailer can maintain the CAPS solution
at a predictable cost almost indefinitely."
The CAPS 2000EX system differentiates
itself from the competition with a modular design that allows for
a more reliable and robust sealed unit. More importantly, it allows
for field maintenance/repair rather than complete replacement of
the unit.
"CAPS 2000EX uses the latest technology
to help retailers control their shopping cart costs and maintain
an adequate stock of carts to meet consumer demand. More specifically,
the new product helps retailers ensure that they are not losing
sales due to the lack of carts," said Salyer.
"Also, by doubling the warranty period
to two years, we are showing retailers how confident we are in our
product line. And, with the optional extended warranty for three
or more years, a retailer can maintain a solution to its cart loss
problems almost indefinitely."
The CAPS 2000EX system starts with
a perimeter antenna wire buried in a narrow slot around the retail
site and an electronic locking caster installed on each cart. Whenever
someone attempts to remove a cart from the site, the caster locks
to disable the cart. The cart remains disabled until it is reset
using the Carttronics hand-held reset controller.
