SDG Software Now Available on IBM’s DB2

SDG’s Solution Provides Outstanding Performance on

Markham, Ontario — December 15, 1999 — SDG Software (SDG) today announced that it has executed its PROMPT* (Product Replenishment on Merchandise Policy Techniques) application at the IBM Solution Porting Center in Waltham, Massachusetts. Using DB2** Universal Database EEE and a 4 Node 04-way SilverNode SP 9076, SDG launched its PROMPT application to Summarize, Rank, Forecast and Replenish, 6.4 million SKUs from 128 store locations in three hours and forty-seven minutes.

Using PROMPT, retail operations can now automate forecasting and product replenishment throughout the enterprise on a daily basis rather than traditional weekly batch processing thus reducing lead times by six days. Customers using SDG’s PROMPT and IBM’s DB2 Universal Database to automate replenishment at the store level can expect to reduce inventory investment by -25% , increase turns +40% and increase customer service levels and sales by 15% per year.
