Solution Provides Outstanding Performance on

DB2 Universal Database EEE
Markham, Ontario
December 15, 1999 SDG Software (SDG) today announced
that it has executed its PROMPT* (Product
Replenishment on Merchandise Policy Techniques) application
at the IBM Solution Porting Center in Waltham, Massachusetts. Using
DB2** Universal Database EEE and a 4 Node 04-way SilverNode SP 9076,
SDG launched its PROMPT application to Summarize,
Rank, Forecast and Replenish, 6.4 million SKUs from 128 store
locations in three hours and forty-seven minutes.
"IBMs
support through the porting activities combined with the DB2 performance
achieved are world class and solidly back up their claim as a leader
in technology" said Mardie Noble, Vice
President of Software Engineering and Technology for SDG
Software. "PROMPT ported to IBMs DB2 Universal Database
is one of the most scaleable forecasting and replenishment tools
available to retailers today."
Using PROMPT,
retail operations can now automate forecasting and product replenishment
throughout the enterprise on a daily basis rather than traditional
weekly batch processing thus reducing lead times by six days. Customers
using SDGs PROMPT and IBMs DB2 Universal Database to
automate replenishment at the store level can expect to reduce inventory
investment by -25% , increase turns +40% and increase customer service
levels and sales by 15% per year.
Jim Kelly, vice
president, data management marketing, IBM Software Solutions, said
"The potent combination of PROMPT and DB2 Universal Database
allows our mutual retail industry customers to leverage both IBMs
award winning database and SDGs vast experience in demand
chain management. This launch provides a new and exciting opportunity
for retailers to increase productivity and improve their business
operations."
